The tradition began more than 20 years ago when New Orleans native Clifton Lively, who was then the school's campus manager, suggested finding some way to celebrate Mardi Gras.

Some Mardi Gras ... toss dozens of throws, as they're called, in the air. There's frisbees, a toy sword, stuffed animals and more. Oh, my gosh. Wait. What did you get there? HILL: Glass beads.
