This month a group of private investors, led by Anthony Hucker, the current CEO and president of parent company Southeastern Grocers, and the grocer’s supply chain partner C&S Wholesale Grocers, acquired Southeastern Grocers and many of its Winn-Dixie stores back from Aldi.

The consortium will immediately take over the day-to-day operations of Winn-Dixie grocery and liquor stores, as well as Harveys Supermarket. Some locations will be converted to ALDI stores through 2027, as previously agreed.

The discount grocer will keep 220 Winn-Dixie and Harveys stores it bought and convert them into Aldi locations.

The decades-old grocery business headquartered in Jacksonville was under Aldi's ownership for less than a year after an acquisition in March 2024.
