A new poll found that 50% of Utah voters would prefer to automatically get their mail-in ballots instead of opting in to get the ballots every eight years as a new Utah law requires.
In January 2021, the city council appointed Randall over Hughes to serve out the unexpired term of Mayor Jon Pike, who left early to become commissioner of the Utah Insurance Department. Randall then bested Hughes in the November general election that year by more than 2,100 votes.
It is assumed the referendum over HB267 will be on the ballot in 2026, a recent poll shows how Utahns say they will vote.
