An American Airlines flight operated by PSA Airlines was involved in a midair collision with a military helicopter on Wednesday night near Washington, D.C.

A collision between a military helicopter and a regional jet killed 67 people over the Potomac River Wednesday night. Many of the dead were from Northern Virginia.

There are confirmed fatalities from the collision of American Airlines Flight 5342 and the U.S. Army Black Hawk helicopter over the Potomac River. Several bodies have been pulled from the Potomac River crash site, according to two law enforcement sources familiar with the ongoing operation.
