The ruling extends a temporary restraining order for three Venezuelan migrants detained in South Texas who are facing deportation.

A federal judge halted the Trump administration’s efforts to end Temporary Protected Status for hundreds of thousands of Venezuelans, just days before they were scheduled to lose their right to remain and work legally in the U.

Judges in Texas and New York have temporarily barred the U.S. government from deporting Venezuelans jailed in parts of those two states while their lawyers challenge the Trump administration’s use of a rarely invoked law letting presidents imprison and deport noncitizens in times of war.
