Several Columbia University students have chained themselves to a gate to protest Mahmoud Khalil’s detention by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

A Louisiana immigration judge said the Trump administration can move forward with efforts to deport Mahmoud Khalil, the Columbia University student activist and legal permanent resident.

An immigration judge in Louisiana says she will decide later this week whether the government can continue to detain Mahmoud Khalil.
