Billionaire Elon Musk's illegal overthrowing of the US Treasury by his so-called Department of Government Efficiency has some of president Donald Trump's loyalists uneasy. The massive overreach is sowing discord between Republican aides and Musk's army of college grads — who are currently making irreversible changes to the federal government's payments system without the required clearance — as Wired reports.

A lawsuit filed Monday seeks to halt the ‘unlawful disclosure of information,’ including Treasury data on Americans’ taxes and Social Security, to DOGE staff. This week, President Trump adviser Elon Musk’s newly formed Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) seems to have gained full access to the Department of Treasury’s payments systems responsible for processing trillions of dollars of spending,
